Prescription for 13 minor ailments- What is this all about?

Typically I refer to it as a health disorder that can be treated with minimum intervention and/or self-care.

What do you call a Minor Ailment?
Typically I refer to it as a health disorder that can be treated with minimum intervention and/or self-care.

Additional considerations will include:

It is typically a transient condition
Usually, lab findings are not necessary.
Low likelihood that a therapy will cover up an underlying issue
There are no signs in the prescription and medical history that would point to a more serious issue.
Short-term or minimum follow-up is all that is necessary.

According to the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Mister Pharmacist can evaluate/assess a patient’s condition and prescribe a prescription-level drug if necessary rather than suggesting a lesser over-the-counter treatment for certain, less serious diseases.

YES! Ontario’s Health Insurance Plan pays for minor ailments evaluations and prescriptions (OHIP). You must have a current Ontario Health Number in order to be eligible for this service.

Does Mister Pharmacist have the training necessary to diagnose and treat a minor ailment?
Mister Pharmacist Trains hard

Because of my formal education from the University of Montreal school of Pharmacy and over 20 years of experience and training, I have a wealth of information and good clinical abilities that are essential to the healthcare system.

The diagnosis and treatment of these mild ailments are covered in my university curricula. The minor diseases program has obligatory rules that regulate the range of what i am permitted to conduct.

Will a diagnosis of a minor ailment always be followed by a prescription?

Following a patient’s evaluation, I will decide the best course of action in collaboration with you- the patient. This can be a prescription or a suggestion for a nonprescription drug. I will recommend you to a doctor for further evaluation if after evaluating your problem I decide it is serious or needs further attention.

What if my seemingly minor ailment develops into something more serious?

You will be sent to your doctor for a diagnosis if your condition worsens or you do not feel better while taking the medication I suggested. I am trained to know when a patient needs a more extensive evaluation and treatment than what they can provide. I am a straight shooter, if I don’t know, I will tell you.
